Great topic and presso Collis. Have been using your sites for some time - they are great, and full of inspirational material. Just start - great advice - similar to Nike's old slogan - Just do it.

I had never heard of Ignite before, but the concept is ingenious. It's basically like speed dating/networking or whatever combined with current tech ideas, stories, and innovations without all the downtime of switching presenters or deciding who gets how much time. It's very comparable to an open mic night except for us nerds.

I had no idea what this ignite could be and then the videos really helped me understand it better. I also really liked Eugene Lin's video it was funny and educational.

I totally agree on just getting started. I've been involved in performing and teaching improvisational theater for 10 years now, and many of the skills that improv training teaches - non self-judgment, adaptability, commitment, confidence to just get started without knowing the outcome, etc. - all have fantastic applications to business.

This is especially true now, where on the internet the only impediment to your starting a business is your own self-doubt. Just get out there and do it, and as long as you don't give up, it will probably work out.

Great to see the success of others based on iteration and commitment. Keep it up!

Good stuff here and also, small world - not only do I know Ian from smspoll.net (who looks like a sponsor at said event) but also did an Ignite talk here in Cardiff, UK. Here's mine on 'change':

Great stuff, Collis. I liked your presentation and also the ignite concept - it's interesting to put time limits on presentations so you have to get to the point quickly. I also agree on the with your point about iterations. Nice slides :-)
